actually the most natural thing to me .
But it got to the point where there was so many , actually the key point was there was a Church of England report into the abuse of this leader and they substantiated all the claims . In fact , 150 people spoke to them and the claims were substantiated of the various forms of abuse that I mentioned . And at that point there was still complete silence from church leaders around the U . K . And I thought , “ Okay , something ’ s really wrong here . You can ’ t have something that seismic , and even at the point where all the claims are substantiated and still no one ’ s giving any leadership ”. So , at that point we decided let ’ s be part of this documentary . That way we get to really control the tone of it .
We want to have a documentary that really has a tone of loving the church and the bride of Christ . It isn ’ t a massive finger pointing exercise and also doesn ’ t have a tone of bitterness about it . We felt , let ’ s try and do this in the most healthy wholesome way we can . But using that example that we ’ d experienced , let ’ s try and speak into this and more than anything , let ’ s give some room for some experts to speak into this . So we had a lady called Dr . Diane Langberg who ’ s a leading world figure , really on the area of spiritual and church abuse . She brought a lot of wisdom to it . I had a couple of other professionals speak into it with the view of let ’ s make sure victims feel heard . But let ’ s also create something of a care package for those who have been affected and also give some leadership and insight and Biblical wisdom perhaps … to those who maybe weren ’ t victims of this , but it ’ s been confusing for them , or it ’ s disorientated them in some way .
And so we did that and honestly I was very

nervous . I don ’ t know how people are going to take this documentary . I don ’ t know if it ’ s going to resonate well with people , but we went past the point of thinking that because we knew it was the right thing to do . We felt so convicted that we have a position here where we can actually give some voice to this subject in a way that could really be helpful . So we need to do it . And we were very encouraged . I mean , I ’ ve never seen momentum like that on anything I ’ ve done musically . 140,000 views in a week and the Church of England changing the safeguarding procedures because of it .
Other safeguarding charities starting to use it as a part of their training . Lots more victims coming out who hadn ’ t ever spoken to anyone about what they ’ d experienced . There were so many positives to it . Yeah , so I don ’ t want to really become an ongoing spokesman for that area . I don ’ t feel qualified to do that . But I ’ m really glad that we put the documentary out and it ’ s called Let There Be Light , and people can find it on my YouTube channel .
