NEW MUSIC
Christ ” are both well written and performed songs of victory centering us on the power of the resurrection and what that means both for now and eternity .
WE THE KINGDOM
Song Spotlight : “ Miracle Power ”
explores the trouble and pain we often feel as human beings and how worship and praising the Father in the midst of trials reminds us of the healing power of Jesus .
The lead track , “ Passion ” features funky bass lines , 80 ’ s keyboards and plenty of hopeful adrenaline in this powerful opener about how Jesus is worthy of every bit of praise we can bring .
“ Supply ” borrows it thematic center from Philippians 4:19 as Ben Cantelone earnestly shares all the ways God cares for and blesses His creation . Natalie Grant makes a surprise visit to the mic on the piano and synth laden “ Always There ” as we are reminded of how we are always on the mind of Jesus .
The best song on the album is actually one that is already on my “ to do ” list for Sunday morning . “ Firm Foundation ( He Won ’ t )” was written and performed by Cody Carnes and is a glorious reminder of how our God fulfills every one of His promises , and that He will never fail us . Carnes ’ delivery , robust instrumentation , memorable melodies and scripturally centered writing puts this song over the top and is one of my favorites of 2022 .
I enjoyed the different voices , themes , instrumentation and changes in song structure included in this project . A few cliché ’ s aside , this was a solid offering from the all-star cast down at Belonging Co . Pick this one up .
Two-time GRAMMY- nominated We The Kingdom ’ s latest single entitled , “ Miracle Power ” announces their long-awaited return as fans of the Cash family and friends await their sophomore album due out later this year . The track features an inspiring message of hope for all who listen while reminding us that Jesus is never too far away when life seems unbearable .
Beginning with electronic loops , upright piano and a palm-muted acoustic drive , lead singer Ed Cash ’ s gravelly tenor bravely announces that this song is for “ the lost and lonely , for the broken and afraid . This is for those who are hurting , hoping help is on the way ”. I was immediately drawn in by the merciful feel of the first two lines that will connect with every listener who has found themselves in the bleak valley of life .
The chorus brings the energy up as the drums and B3 kick in while Frannie Cash takes the mic and boldy declares “ I believe in miracle power , in a wonder working God . I ’ m filled with the Holy Spirit working wonders in my heart ... when it feels like I won ’ t make it , I call on Jesus !”
After a cool little bluesy interlude , verse 2
A more upbeat chorus follows then a slick southern guitar solo before the music is stripped back and a surprising chord progression follows on the bridge . Backed by a Gospel choir and B3 organ , Fannie Cash sings confidently about how we may not know what the day may bring but we know who brings the day , and in Him we put our trust and faith because He never fails us .
The bridge is followed by another full throat chorus and the outro .
This hopeful song of celebration is exactly what the church needs to be singing right now as so many people in the world need that hopeful ray of healing and joy in their lives that only Jesus can bring . This is a great song that is easy to sing and could be played by most worship teams and along with “ Holy Water ” will find a place in my regular Sunday rotation for church .
