to be in Nashville , Jon came and we wrote in person . It was like … I know you and you know me … and I just got to experience that tornado joy in person and John Guerra was there as well and I love it because this song actually has a perspective of heaven , but it ’ s more so about the journey whilst we ’ re still here and having that eternal perspective and so it ’ s so much fun because it ’ s an up song .
It ’ s going to be the fourth single that drops from the album . I love it because it ’ s a song of faith , of hopeful expectation and also it speaks honesty about what I wrestled a little bit with sometimes … starting my day and I ’ m feeling like a failure . I ’ m losing faith . God , I know I need a Savior . Will you carry me home ?
I wrestle with that because I ’ m like , “ Oh , it ’ s so honest and it ’ s so down from the first moment ”, but I realize even my own wrestle the last couple years to not start my day with my telephone , with my little computer that I have here that is just blasting bad news . Or I ’ m allowing that to be the lens that I look through the rest of the day because I ’ m frustrated , or I ’ m stressed , or I ’ m annoyed because of something .
It ’ s an honest offering and it ’ s just that . It ’ s just with that perspective of we have a God that again , doesn ’ t just judge us and then leave us , but he ’ s like , “ I ’ m going to walk you through this whole thing .” You ’ re not promised a perfect life . You ’ re not even promised tomorrow , but what you are promised is that He ’ s with you and I ’ m like , “ What a beautiful reminder that no matter what , God , Amen with us , we ’ re going to be okay ”.
[ WM ] I ’ ve got to ask you about those wild cello tv ’ s used on your song , “ You Hold Me Now ”, from last year ’ s Colour Conference . Do you have a back story on those for us ?
[ Taya ] Yes . Well , it came from some of our amazing creative minds , our creative pastor cast and also just the amazing stage design team . Because I mean I don ’ t know if they would technically make sound , I know that You Hold Me Now
one of the cellos that was playing … one of the cellos with the TV is an actual cello so she was definitely pumping something out . But it was just beautiful because from what I can recall and feel free to tell me if it ’ s incorrect , but it was just blasting what has been going on for the last couple of years on those days and yet again , counteracting it with the truth of God – of “ you hold me now and there will be a day where there ’ s no weeping and there ’ s no pain ”. That ’ s a beautiful old school United song that I love getting to do at the moment , it ’ s beautiful .
[ WM ] I ’ d like to close by asking you about your current Spring , and ongoing American tours . You are extremely busy ! What does a tour of this magnitude feel like to you ?
[ Taya ] Yeah , well we haven ’ t toured for so long up until this year , it kind of feels like classic Jesus where we just have to hold on for dear life because everything just seems to happen at the same time . The album and even United , the other band and the worship team I get to be part of , we ’ ve just dropped an album and we ’ re touring and then I ’ m doing a full tour as well as all this future tour , which I ’ ll be on in both capacities . It ’ s a joy because we haven ’ t been doing it for so long and I think I ’ m reminded again of just the New Testament when they were talking about the formation of the early church … don ’ t forgo gathering together , the gathering together of the saints of breaking bread together and having communion together .
And I think after such a time of we ’ ve all been scattered throughout the world in our little homes and closets and cars and trying to find space and I believe that hopefully we ’ ve all
heard God speak in some way , shape or form . It ’ s going to be even more potent because we ’ ve had this beautiful revelation of Jesus and perhaps even just the joy of for some reason , and I think it ’ s the faith aspect . I know that in the Bible it says it ’ s impossible to please God apart from faith . First , you have to believe that he exists and then secondly , that he cares enough to respond to those who seek Him . There ’ s just something that happens when we gather together , in the presence of God collectively that for some reason , things that maybe would otherwise take 10 years to break off , or to shift , or to have this revelation moment … can sometimes just happen when we ’ re together .
Sometimes it ’ s the borrowing of faith of other saints and you ’ re surrounded by a great plate of witnesses in the heavenly sense , but also in the room . I know God is pleased by faith and so I count it joy to get to tour and to get to bring these songs in a live capacity . Because I ’ ve been sitting on some of these songs for two years . One ois from Proverbs 3:5-6 , “ Trust in the Lord with all of your heart , lean not on your own understanding , but in all your ways , acknowledge him and he ’ ll make your paths straight .” And what a joy to sing scripture and it ’ s kind of funky , like a bit more upbeat type song , which is always fun to sing and lead . So even though it ’ s busy with touring plans , I will take that over heading back to the last two years that we had .
[ WM ] Thank you so very much for our chat today . God Bless You .
