always had this thing in my head regarding the soul . You don ' t know what ' s going on inside . What ' s going on in the heart of a man ? And there can be a lot going on internally .
You have to trust that what you ' re doing is what you ' re supposed to be doing and that ' s about it . So that ' s what 2021 Passion felt like to me .
[ WM ] In the official video for “ Good God Almighty ”, you were playing a white Fender Stratocaster with a solid white maple fretboard . I ' ve never seen one like that before . It turns out they are quite rare ?
[ Crowder ] Yes , it ' s actually a Supreme . They did a limited run on these things ( Supreme is a fashion brand ). They went for crazy stupid money on the front-end and it ' s just because Supreme branding was on it . I thought I need to see that in real life . And then it turns out that there ' s one that turns up on Reverb . My wife actually saw it . And this is when it gets good is when your wife is showing you a guitar , “ You ' ve got to see this guitar ”. I ' m like , this is the best . She says , " I found this . I found the one you ' re talking about and it ' s actually in Atlanta ”.
So randomly on paper , it was in town . And so of course I went and scooped it up . I did not have the plans for it to be in a video shoot . We didn ' t know we were going all white yet , but when I got it at the time , I was just like , “ This will look perfect in the white studio with all my whitedout synths , now I have a whited-out guitar .” And that ' s when I understood this is why my wife finds this . She doesn ' t want me having my busted-up sunburst , sitting on the ground next to my whited-out synths . I realized , “ Oh , this is aesthetic decision-making as a family . I get it .” I was glad . I participated with a smile .
And once I got it set up , it played great . I ' m probably not going to have it on the road , but I wish I had it around for you to see . It ' s very interesting .
