a student summer camp . And then I didn ’ t even get told that it was being used for anything until someone came and was like , “ Hey , I just recorded strings for your song for the United Album .” And I was like , “ What are you talking about ?” And they were like , “ Oh yeah , they ’ re putting your song on the next United Album .” And I was like , “ Oh , great ( laughing ) that ’ s exciting .” Joel had heard the song and really loved it and wanted to use it . And telling me kind of slipped through the cracks , but when I heard I was like , “ Excellent , yeah , I love that idea !”
[ WM ] That ’ s great ! You were like , “ Yes , let ’ s do that ! ( laughing ).” Also , another song you wrote on was “ Another In the Fire ”. I love that song so much ! Tell us a little about how that song came about ?
[ Chris ] That one was definitely a labor of love . It definitely did and still does have a very special place for my family and I . And the stories we get to hear from people that have been encouraged by that song are still impactful . That definitely was a turning point for me as far as writing goes because I felt like I had some skin in the game for maybe the first time . So , that song for me is a special one . first love . Ironically for me it would probably go writing , musician , and then artist . The artist side is sort of a new layer I have to put my finger on from time to time . I came up playing guitar and that was where I cut my teeth as far as getting involved in music . It ’ s kind of like my proverbial happy place .
[ WM ] So , guitar is your primary instrument ? And for all the musicians reading this , what gear do you use ?
[ Chris ] Yes , I would say guitar is my most comfortable place , although I probably write [ WM ] Well , it has definitely been a special one for me . So , Chris , would you consider yourself an artist or songwriter or a musician ? What ’ s your first love , so to speak ? [ Chris ] I mean , I think writing for me is the Rhythms Of Grace Another in the Fire ( Live )
