KATY NICHOLE Katy Nichole
Beginning with a pad and light piano riffs , Katy sings passionately about how she will sing the name of Jesus over the sick , brokenhearted and the lost knowing that God can do all things . The song is a powerful testimony of God ’ s faithfulness as well as a call for the body of Christ to lift each other up in prayer trusting that God still does miracles .

Worship artist , Katy Nichole is quite the miracle story . Suffering from scoliosis , Katy suffered serious debilitating pain for almost three years after her spine surgery which kept her bedridden as she spiraled into a deep emotional and spiritual depression . Yet During this tough season in her life , Katy continued to pray and write in her journal while leaning into God ’ s promises and His word while family and friends prayed for a full recovery . After a second surgery and a long rehab , Katy wrote a number of worship songs based on her experience and these songs of rescue and renewal are featured on her latest self-titled EP . The sixtrack collection is truly a journey from despair to hope through Christ as Katy weaves a beautiful musical tapestry of the new life and light that Jesus can bring no matter what the circumstance .
The EP begins with “ In Jesus Name ( God of Possible )” which was voted as the “ Worship Song of the Year ” by K-Love radio fans .
“ Jesus Changed My Life ” has a slightly more southern Gospel feel with slide guitars and honky-tonk piano as we hear about how God never stops chasing after those He loves . Katy teams up with Big Daddy Weave for the popinfused “ God is in This Story ” that celebrates the ways that God injects himself into all the highs and lows of our lives reminding us that He is never far away .
“ Things I Wish I Would ’ ve Said ” is a delicate song of confession from one love to another as Katy shares an intimate moment of looking back on a broken relationship . Although I would not classify this as a congregationally friendly worship song , it could be done as a special during a sermon series on forgiveness . I was a bit disappointed that there was no mention of how God or his model of forgiveness shows how we should forgive others . Just this little addition in a bridge or counter-chorus could have made this track very special .
“ Jesus Thank You ” is an upbeat prayer giving thanks for all the things that our God does for us each and every day . The addition of a gospel choir and B3 organ make this song stand out and you can ’ t but help but sing and tap along .
I really enjoyed this little EP from Katy Nichole and I especially appreciated how she wrote these songs from a place of dependence and faith in Jesus as she endured a tough season in her life . The songs are well written , scripturally based for the most part and could be emulated by most worship teams .

Worship artist Kristene DiMarco is not a new voice in the worship world . Her association with Jesus Culture and Bethel music has gained her notoriety as she has helped write and perform a number of well-loved worship classics such as “ It Is Well ” and “ You Make Me Brave ”. Her latest solo project entitled The Field is a creative worship foray that somewhat shatters the “ acceptable for worship ” box with song structure , style , theme and instrumentation . DiMarco trades pads , big drums and electric guitars for upright pianos , sultry violins , mandolins and subtle acoustic guitars which strip away the production and let the lyric and her sweet vocals take center stage .
The album finds it ’ s heartbeat in how the modern church is dealing with political and racial unrest in our current culture but what sets The Field apart
