STEPS TO TAKE To start exploring where God may use you in worship ministry .
ACTION ITEMS YOU CAN TAKE HOW AND WHERE
· Let it be known that you feel called to be part of a worship team and why . Get the word out as informational , not a request . God is the one who opens doors so when there is an opportunity there is a good chance you will be approached .
There is no question that the industry needs devoted Christians with the training and knowledge to lead recording companies , manage artists and provide talented and skilled personnel to operate successful companies . It ’ s no different from the secular industry except for the motivation behind the work . It ’ s not about making the most money but rather glorifying our almighty God and spreading his gospel .
Many of the same roles talked about for concert ministry are in this category . What differentiates the two is working for a company on their payroll or working as an independent consultant or contractor . There are pros and cons to each one .
As you start considering these roles keep in mind you might start at your church to obtain experience . Then God may lead you to greater opportunities . Remember that God can do exceedingly and abundantly beyond all we can ask or think ( Ephesians 3:20 ). If you have the calling and you are seeking God first , he will work in ways that are amazing to you .
You may be thinking , “ How do I get started ? I want to do something to move forward .” Here are some action items that will work for most of the roles that we will be discussing . Start thinking them through , writing down ideas and praying about each one . Additional ideas will be given that are specific to the roles .
Remember to pray first as you work through your action item list . Take time to listen to God and he will lead you each step . Wait on God and he will give you the desires of your heart . This is an adapted except from Ted Saul ’ s book , “ Answering Your Call to Christian Music ”

If you feel called to join a · Attend some concerts , large and small and observe all that is touring ministry . going on . Do you know someone ? Ask for some of their time to ask them questions about the ministry where they are involved and the roles they have .
For technical and business · Consider community college . There may be classes that you can skills , take classes at a take and immediately apply the learned knowledge . college or university . · Look to Colleges and Universities for degree programs . These can wrap around music programs . A completed or a degree in progress will look great on a resume and can help start you down the road to gaining the all-important experience .
Look online for training . · Look for presentations given on social media such as YouTube to show you how to use the equipment and tools . Many of these can be specific to the vendor of the equipment you ’ ll be using .
· Find some online courses . This can be an inexpensive way to start . Depending on how much experience you can pick up with this method , it may be all you need .
OJT – On-the-job training · Talk to your church worship , media and sound team letting them know you ’ re interested in joining .
· Ask if you can volunteer to be a trainee or mentored at your church with the end goal of becoming a regular part of the team .
· Be willing to work any type or size of event to gain experience . Might be a children ’ s program or a small meeting . The idea is to get your hands on the equipment and add value .
· Practice with the tools at your church or ministry when the sanctuary is not in use . The church should see this as an investment as well .
