your favorite singers in a live setting , Hillsong , Elevation , whatever , they ’ ve been so well coached on that microphone that even in a band setting , on a high note the typical singer is going to come back way off that mic when she does the high notes . And you ’ ll watch the best , they ’ ll stay right on it and they ’ ve mixed their in-ears to a point where things work . So there is blending , harmony , when to sing and when not to sing , these are all things that are so much easier to do when the song platform is very simple .
So , for the first part of the question , I would respond with use simple songs and be repetitive with your songs . It ’ s okay if you ’ ve only got five or six songs for the month . Just rotate them out and get them to where they are sounding great and you ’ re really comfortable . I had one of my guys asking me yesterday on our 2021 Planning Center , “ How do we get vocalists to be more anointed when they are recording for us ?” And my answer was that they need to feel confident and comfortable with the technical aspects of singing . Time , pitch , diction , phrasing , mic technique , and once they get good with those things then it ’ s easy to go and start thinking just about worship leading .
The second question is a development question , and we have a development process that we use . Say someone wants to come play guitar at Church of the Highlands . That ’ s so great , we need as many guitar players and musicians as we can get that want to serve on a Sunday . So , we will invite that person to Planning Center , and it will have the resources just like it would for our regular musicians .
So , the songs for audition , and then all of the parts and all of the breakdowns and the charts right there for them to see and learn . Then they ’ ll come to their audition , and hopefully they will know what the expectation is from Planning Center , they ’ ll perform that song from Planning Center , and if things go well we will have a brief background check to make sure that their heart is right , and then we will put them into our development process . What that is , is we have
