KEITH & KRISTYN GETTY Evensong – Hymns and Lullabies at the Close of Day
JEREMY & ADRIENNE CAMP The Worship Project brings the mind and soul to a place of rest in Jesus . Kristyn Getty ’ s hauntingly serene vocal makes this album ( which coupled with the Biblical emphasis the Getty ' s are known for ) a major success .

There is an old tradition of families gathering |
together to sing beloved hymns of Biblical truth |
before the looming darkness of night arrives . |
Ireland ' s storied modern-hymnodists Keith & |
Kristyn Getty tap into this ancient practice with |
their latest release , Evensong . The overarching |
theme of the album is finding rest in the peace |
of God during uncertain times and in that |
regard , the thirteen-song album delivers on just |
about every level . Instrumentally , this album is |
almost completely devoid of percussion which |
“ Sun Of My Soul ” is a folky southern ditty with a soft B3 organ , acoustic guitars and light brushes on the drums that will bring a smile to your face as Kristyn Getty ’ s airy vocals sing about the light of Christ that guides us through the shadows of life .
Beginning creatively with the sound of crickets and a quiet piano , " The Lord Is In His Holy Temple ," brings an aura of holiness while reminding us that the creator of the universe still knows us by name . The southern-gospel choir here is magical and a perfect fit . The remake of the classic hymn " His Eye Is On The Sparrow " features a jazzy re-wrapping that ' s tinged with gospel soul thanks to guest vocalist Heather Headley . The closing title track bookends the album with mysterious melodies , and gently whirl the mind into blissful rest , " by thy grace to rise again ."
Evensong definitely breaks the mold of what most worship albums are offering these days . The Getty ' s have created a wonderful collection of spiritually uplifting lullabies and hymns . These songs could be used very creatively in a Lenten-themed service or a “ light into the darkness ” worship experience . Parents of young children could create a new and lasting tradition of singing with your children before bed with this album as well which gives it almost a completely separate purpose , which is encouraging to see .

For the first time Jeremy Camp is partnering with his wife Adrienne to release a six-song EP entitled , The Worship Project . Adrienne ( Liesching ) Camp is a South African-born singer / songwriter who was the lead singer of multi-GMA Dove Award-nominated pop / alternative rock band The Benjamin Gate , before retiring from the band to focus on her family .
I was pleased that this wasn ’ t a Jeremy Camp solo EP with his wife singing a few harmonies and backing him up . Adrienne plays a very prominent role here and the combination of the two vocals really make this album sparkle .
The album kicks off with the mid-tempo “ Your Way Yahweh ” which is a call for the churches of the world to keep looking heavenward and seeking the heart of God when life gets tough . Simple melodies and a driving chorus serve as
