how to practice the way of Jesus and ways that I totally failed at it and ways that I’ m changing. And Jesus is changing me weekly. So that’ s kind of a pitch for the book, and hopefully you guys can pick it up because it’ s really, I’ m really excited that people can learn about Jesus.
[ WM ] Yeah. You reminded me of something John Wimber said years ago. And in his prayer time, he said the Lord spoke to his heart and said,“ I’ ve seen your ministry; now watch Mine.”
[ Tim ] So good. So good. That’ s just wisdom speaking right there. And I’ ve done most of my ministry for God and 15 years ago I quit working for God. I was leaving Mariners, this ginormous thing, and I was whatever. And I remember saying,“ Jesus, I quit working for you. Working for You sucks. I keep trying to be awesome and do cool things for You and help people pray these prayers.” But what if Jesus is the King of the Kingdom and knows what’ s best for His kingdom? And I was like,“ Dang it. I’ ve done all this stuff pretty much without you just on my awesomeness and my gifting.” But man, joining Him even as a worship leader has been way more fun than working for Him.
[ WM ] Well, are you currently leading worship on a regular basis?
[ Tim ] Yeah, that’ s a great question. I’ m currently a part-time worship pastor at a church here in Franklin, Tennessee, called Journey Church, at journeytn. com. And yeah, it’ s a really great group of humans. There’ s an old friend named Mike Erre, who was a pastor from Orange County years ago, and we’ ve partnered with a few other friends, and there are four of us that lead this church community together. And it’ s the most beautiful expression of the church gathered and scattered that I’ ve been a part of. And I love it so much. So yeah, man, that’ s a whole different conversation: how we’ re finding songs and what we’ re actually praying.
