began integrating modern worship songs into our Sunday set lists . Kim and I knew from that moment on that nineties worship songs would always play an important part in our ministries .

[ WM ] And so nineties worship music impacted you greatly . What ’ s some additional backstory ?
[ Chad ] The backdrop is that my youth pastor at the time , Jeff Enochs ( now NWN Director of Outreach Ministries ), had been using performance tracks to lead worship up until the beginning of 1996 . Jeff was a great singer and decided that it was time to start a youth group band . The senior pastor ’ s son , Chris , had proven to be formidable on drums , and by that time I was proficient enough to play electric / acoustic guitar . We then added a bass player ( Mike ) and we were off to the races , so to speak . This was an absolutely fantastic time to begin in worship ministry as 1996 was the height of Danny Chambers ’ worship ministry , the launch of Brownsville Worship with Lindell Cooley due to the Brownsville revival , and the year that the game-changing Shout To The Lord album with Darlene Zschech was released by Integrity Music . I then quickly became familiar with Vineyard Worship and some of what was going on in the UK . Much different than today , there weren ’ t that many worship leaders or worship bands in existence at that time , so our little youth group worship band started to receive invitations to minister at regional youth rallies and such . Although I really enjoyed some of the CCM bands during that era , I hoped that modern worship would find its way to the mainstream . I had predicted that the environment was ripe for a worship band to emerge commercially , which is exactly what happened when SONICFLOOd came on the scene in 1999 .
