The functionality of corporate worship and congregations singing together was also a critical dynamic here . Songs were proven by their ability to connect congregants with a living God . Worship songs were not penned with the notion of radio airplay .
It was during the nineties that the original WOW WORSHIP ( Blue ) was released . It ’ s a beautiful story about how 4 competitors ( Vineyard , EMI Christian Music , Integrity , and Maranatha ! Music ) all came together as one in order to partner in a unique concept , baffling retailers nationwide . I know because I was fortunate to participate on both four-member panels dealing with A & R and marketing . Wow Worship , a double cd , went on to sell over 2 million units with a suggested $ 22 retail price tag ! The message of unity connected with both retailers and the listening audience .

[ WM ] Tell us your story . Were you raised in the church ?
[ Chad ] My sister , Kim Gentry Meyer ( who is a producer on the Nineties Worship Night Docuseries ), and I , were very blessed to be raised in a Christian home with parents who really love the Lord . But I would say I really began taking responsibility for my faith journey at age 14 when I attended an Assembly Of God youth camp through our local church in the Summer of 1995 . Not only was this camp a turning point in my faith , but it also gave me my first exposure to what at the time would have been referred to as modern worship . Soon after this experience I picked up the guitar and joined Kim on our local worship team , where we
