accident . Another record that I thought about that was really special to me was The Bucket List that I did with Tony Levin and Jerry Morotta !
But since then , I mean , I was concerned . I was losing my calluses on my left hand because I wasn ’ t playing the acoustic much , but I kept playing the electric just to keep my fingers moving and going . And then before too long , I started picking up the acoustic again , my callus has returned and I have no discomfort playing now .
[ Bruce ] That is good news ! Now , so what are your plans for 2023 so far ?
[ Phil ] Well , I ’ m going to participate in this special concert next month with Tom Hemby and his band , Adam Nitti on bass , Keith Carlock on drums , Michael Whitaker on keyboards and possibly Mark Douthit on sax . Tom ’ s wanting to do a Jeff Beck tribute concert .
I remember back in the early days - the clubs that I used to play with Glass Harp . We played this club in Kent , Ohio called JB ’ s two to three nights a week . And on Sundays we ’ d sometimes play with the James Gang . So I got to play on stage with Joe Walsh . Joe and I used to do Jeff ’ s Boogie together and trade off on solos .
[ Bruce ] Oh wow !
[ Phil ] And those are great memories . In fact , Joe was a real inspiration to me as a player . He and Peter Frampton . Michael Bloomfield was an inspiration as an electric player during those earlier days around ‘ 68 and ‘ 69 . Actually , Glass Harp did open for Mike Bloomfield in San Francisco in ‘ 71 . And I did listen to Michael play live , but I got to hang out with Peter Frampton . I got to hang out with Joe Walsh . And we used to have conversations about music and stuff
