belief is that everything encompassed within an acoustic guitar either adds to or detracts from the tone it creates and projects.
This Tweedy Martin guitar isn’ t your typical warm and fuzzy Mahogany model that folds in the background compared with other guitars. Compared to my Martin D 18 with same pick, chords and strums the Tweedy 00DB was brighter with more pronounced mids and highs, louder projection and with a reserved bass.
Other surprises are how comfortable the Tweedy 00DB is to hold and play seated or standing. The guitar projects incredibly well. Played with pick and fingerstyle the Martin Jeff Tweedy 00DB is something totally unique that would be perfect for performing live or songwriting. The more reserved bass sounds would also help it fit into a mix better with a Praise team if the other guitarists are using standard dreadnaught shaped instruments.
This is not like any other acoustic I have played or heard thanks to the choice of wood, neck and bracing. Now I understand why everyone wanted Jeff Tweedy and Martin to team up again, this guitar makes sense and it brings a unique sound texture and playability to the acoustic guitar landscape.
If you don’ t want to buy one, don’ t play a Martin Jeff Tweedy 00DB acoustic, but I would love to hear your comments after you do! Priced at $ 3,599 the Martin 00DB Jeff Tweedy Martin guitar is not overpriced when you review the details and craftsmanship put into it. It is available in Right- or Left-handed playing styles and I would recommend the installation of electronics to make it stage ready too.
The Martin 000 Jr E Jeff Tweedy Acoustic / Electric guitar will also surprise you at only $ 1,149. It features FSC Sapele back, sides and top and the natural ebony fretboard is gorgeous.
Essentially this is a scaled down cost-effective version of Jeff’ s higher end Martin, but the electronics and affordability make it deliver. If you have the budget the Martin Jeff Tweedy 00DB acoustic guitar is hands down the instrument to buy, but for a backup, songwriter go-to guitar or summer camp choice the 00 Jr E is no slouch either! Spending time with both of these guitars it is evident that Jeff Tweedy was very involved in both guitars and has the guitar buying public we reap the benefits. Play them for yourself and be amazed and then tell your friends you heard it from Worship Musician magazine first!
