When the new Taylor AD22e arrived , I was surprised when I pulled it out of the gig bag , as this is not your typical Taylor offering . Best known for their usage of Koa and other exotic woods and intricate inlays in the fretboards and headstocks , the AD22e guitar separates itself from the pack in its pure simplicity . It looks like an instrument that could have been created in the late 50 ’ s with an almost vintage visual appeal . The body is constructed of Sapele and the top and neck are crafted from Mahogany . I ’ m a fan of this pairing as it has a warm tonality that is also ideal for finger picking or strumming . The Grand Concert body shape is easy to hold and navigate and the chamfered body edges leave no sharp edges to dig into your arms while playing . The V-Class bracing makes the strings ring more evenly taking the muddiness
