to turn the Master on or off or on with boost via the foot switch . Underneath the two Tremolo knobs is a fourth three-way mini-switch which has the option of on-off or foot switch control .
On the Back are an IEC power jack , a fuse socket , three speaker jacks with an impedance selector switch , three tube bias screwdriver accessible pots , and a MIDI-style jack for the footswitch cable . The back also has a metal grate to protect the tubes while allowing airflow to cool them .
IN USE : I ’ m a big fan of “ Real Tubes and Speakers .” Fortunately , I have a collection of tube amps here at my studio . There are some Vintage Fenders , AC30s , Marshall , Jim Kelly , Bad Cat , etc . I have to say , plugging into the DGT-15 was an extraordinary experience . Each string on the PRS Silver Sky rang out evenly with the authority of the moving air on the low end . It is plenty loud when cranked up and has a ton of headroom . It ’ s a fantastic overdriven sound with the volume up . It breaks up but never really goes heavy distortion . It ’ s a perfect amp for the worship guys who miss the sound of a natural speaker , with the ability to keep a low volume . Some amps lose the tone vibe when you turn the master down . The DGT stays very true to the original , just quieter . It ’ s a very pedalfriendly amp . The DGT loved my pedalboard . You would think the EL84 tubes would mean it would be super VOX-like . The top cut and Presence also lean that way . Yet the warmth and girth are more like a modded Fender / Dumble vibe to my ear .
I wouldn ’ t say it ’ s scooped , but it ’ s a perfect tone combination of glossy , clean , and gritty bark . The Boost switch setting on the remote is unique . You can have the Bright switch on for clean tones and off for the boost , and you can only engage the master volume in the boost setting . This is perfect if you want sparkling clean to switch to punchy grit in boost mode instantly . Having the Boost control is almost like having two channels . The Spring Reverb is voiced in a very musical way . It isn ’ t too bright
and is almost like a studio rackmount unit from a studio . The DGT-15 Tremolo circuit works via power tubes . This gives a vintage , throaty , and musical quality . Perfect for everything from Surf and Blues to delicious pads and swells . There are many options between the speed and depth controls , and assigning them to the remote footswitch is possible .
MY TAKEAWAY : PRS designer Doug Sewell and signature artist David Grissom did a fantastic job on this amp . It does things my vintage amps can ’ t do and will likely become my go-to recording amp . Two of them would be killer for live performance since I love the sound of a stereo rig or a wet-drywet setup . Mono is fine for recording , so you can double-track and pan stuff . The DGT-15 behaves like an amp that would cost two or three times the MSRP . I love that I can have the amp head in the control room and the cabinet in the tracking room . That ’ s fantastic , especially for overdubs , and if I can get away with it , I would also like to be in there for tracking . For the worship guys , I would encourage you to try this DGT-15 out . It ’ s versatile . You can turn it down without sucking the tone . Keep the head near you and the cab off stage if need be . We all seem to have to use IRs sometimes , which always compromises the sound and feel of the guitar . Let ’ s get back to the real thing and make worship great again . I think you ’ re going to love this amp .
