I told the guy my name , he did a double take and he said , “ What what ’ d you say your name was ?” So he opens his desk drawer and pulls out this business card .
And it said , “ If Jim Danker ever walks in and asks for a job , give him a job ”. Whoa . And I ’ m like , what ? Come to find out , at the music store that I was working for previously in New Jersey , I did a training seminar one weekend for a keyboard company called Ensoniq , which was based in Philadelphia . And the guy that ran that training school was a believer . And he knew that I had these big dreams to move into
Nashville . So he put my name in at a couple music stores , figuring that I might need a job at some point . I walked into Nashville with two jobs and did that for that summer . And that was my paying my dues period .

[ Peter James ] Do you know the story of Chariots Of Fire ? I can ’ t even remember the guy ’ s name .
[ Mike Graff ] Oh , Vangelis ! That ’ s the composer or the … oh … the runner ! ( laughs )
Man , if that didn ’ t show everyone what a studio nerd I am . No , that then clearly I do not know . It ’ s a beautiful story , I know , but I don ’ t remember the name of the actual individual .
[ Peter ] Yeah , neither can I . I mean , it ’ s probably been 30 years since I ’ ve watched Chariots Of Fire , but there ’ s this little scene in it which is kind of a cool analogy to what I was just talking about . In the story of his life , his sister comes up to him and says , “ Hey , you should be on the mission field with me . We need to be doing , you know , what God wants and be sharing the gospel and everything .”
