laden with God doing miraculous things . And we absolutely believe that He does and that He does supernatural , miraculous things in the moment that are undeniable .
And then I also believe that God is the God who really shepherds us and pastors us through the times when , for whatever reason that we can ’ t possibly begin to understand this side of heaven , he doesn ’ t choose to do it in that moment . I believe that he ’ s a loving Father who walks with us through the struggle of whatever circumstance we might be going through . And so I love this song because it was a challenging song to write and to sing , because we said , okay , how do we say , what is true about the miraculous power of God ?
How do we acknowledge what we absolutely believe and what we absolutely know , but then at the same time , relationally engage in the idea that life sucks sometimes , and is really , really hard ? And so that ’ s what the whole song ’ s about , Our Mom ( Scott ’ s and Ed ’ s ), is in her late seventies , and our Dad passed away a couple years ago .
My Mom told us the story where Dad had cancer multiple times . He had 24 major surgeries , and he ended up dying from dementia that was due to traumatic brain injury from a surgery he had had .
And so my Mom just had to deal with a lot , carrying Dad through all of that , and Dad , the last seven or eight years , was really , really hard with his dementia . My Mom was praying one day , and she just said , “ God , you never know what a day may bring ,” because it was a particularly tough day with Dad .
She said , “ You never know what a day may bring ,” but she said she just kind of felt God speaking to her heart , “ But you know who brings the day .” And that ’ s where that bridge lyric came from .
It was pretty much straight from our Mom ’ s mouth . So man , this song has really grown in all of our hearts , and it has been so special playing it at night , just kind of watching the story of the song unfold over four minutes or whatever and seeing people engage in it , because I think it ’ s a really profound thing to worship a God who performs miracles and to process all of that as we sing a song .
[ WM ] And it ’ s part of a full-length studio release coming soon , correct ? Please tell us about it .
