My current challenge is space for the acoustic and electric guitar cases . If I had more room I would place them in those rolling racks that you see out there . The garage needs more organization so perhaps in the future they can live out there , but for now I basically stack them on the lower wood shelves in the room .
BASIC TOOLBOX : SOME THINGS YOU JUST NEED TO HAVE
Ground floor planning … I want to discuss some basics that I needed to acquire . In some areas I went all-out quality wise , and in some I cut back , again depending on my needs .
I went total pro in my selection of two space saving , but productive products from Triad- Orbit . If you are not familiar with Triad-Orbit ’ s studio and stage gear you need to be . They have the most intelligently designed boom stand I have ever seen . I brought in the T3 tall tripod stand with the boom arm and casters . The beauty of it is that I can use it for an acoustic guitar part in the center of the room and then simply roll it out of the way . The second item that is really great for functionality and space saving measures is their wall mounted boom stand combination ( IO-W wall mount + OA ball joint + IOA2A extension arm + M2 micro adaptor ). I placed it in the keyboard section of the studio for someone sitting at the keys and singing , but it can certainly boom out far enough for a lead or BGV vocalist to stand comfortably in the room and sing . I am very satisfied with these tools in the studio . www . triad-orbit . com

When it comes to mics that is where I kept things a bit on the low budget side . The first mic to attain is the old standby – a Shure SM57 Cardioid Dynamic Microphone ($ 99.00 ). Great for mic-ing guitar amps . I actually was gifted two of them ( shout out to Doug Doppler ).
Since I am not a vocalist - I actually talk out of tune :) - and all of my songs are instrumental , I went with a very good but less expensive large diaphragm mic . The MXL V69 M EDT Mogami
