God that is exciting and refreshing. We pray this hunger catches on and stirs the hearts of people everywhere.
[ WM ] I can remember being served communion by Louie( Giglio) when sixstepsrecords was presented at a sales conference in Nashville, many years ago. Louie profounded cast the vision of Passion at that time. Can you remind our readers what the meaning behind“ six steps” is?
[ Kristian ] The whole“ six steps” idea comes from the ancient Old Testament narrative and a time when the Ark of the Lord was the most treasured possession of God’ s people, the embodiment of His very presence and glory among them. Sadly, the Ark was captured in battle by the dreaded Philistines, enemies of God and his chosen people. Soon, even they learned the Ark of the Lord was not to be dealt with lightly and returned it to Israel, yet because God’ s people had forgotten how the Ark was to be properly transported, it rested for years, miles outside of the city of Jerusalem. After many failed and disastrous attempts to bring the Ark to the city, David finally had it carried on poles as God had instructed in the first place. Once the Ark was again carried properly, the journey to Jerusalem resumed safely. David and his men were so grateful, so happy to be alive in the presence of such glory, they took six steps, built an altar and offered a sacrifice of praise to God! They were humbled and amazed in the presence of a Holy God. Thus, sixstepsrecords.
[ Brett ] I love that this story has helped shape our label. Like David, we feel that what we are carrying is truly holy. It’ s such a privilege to steward songs of worship where people see and experience the presence of the Lord. We want to have that same heart of gratitude and extravagance that every step we take is worship.
[ WM ] Just That Good is your newest release, captured at the 2026 Passion Conference in Arlington, and returning to its Texas roots. What can you tell us about the overall planning, song selection, and back story leading up to the event?
[ Kristian ] Our team is amazing and planning starts well in advance of the conference. As songwriters, we are writing all year and asking God to surface lyrics and melodies that will help us all behold, trust, and worship him. Throughout the year we are listening to new songs and giving feedback as a team. There are many trusted voices who are offering helpful observations or thoughts to make the songs as true and as strong as they can be. By the time we get to rehearsals in the fall we have a pretty good idea of what songs we will be focusing on. It increases our faith every year to see how the Lord gives the right songs for the moments. He never fails to connect songs to different speaker’ s talks or to specific moments
