STRYMON’ S ULTIMATE PEDALBOARD PROJECT //
TRYING TO MAKE WORSHIP GUITAR PLAYER’ S WORLD A BETTER PLACE by Bruce Adolph
If you have seen our pedalboard features each issue over the years of worship guitar players and their boards, you can’ t help but notice how prevalent Strymon pedals are. Their popularity in modern worship music is pretty amazing.
When we heard about their new Ultimate Pedalboard Project and the scope of what they were going to present to all worship guitar players, regardless if they used Strymon pedals or not, we were“ all in”.
We sat down with Sean Halley – head of Strymon Marketing to find out more …
[ WM ] Sean, I have been privileged to be in the loop about this from the very start of your production. I like your reason for making the whole Ultimate Pedalboard Project in the first place. Could you share it with our readers?
[ Sean Halley ] In the late summer of 2023 I realized that I really missed my old Bradshaw session rig, because a fully configured rack like that can be a bit like a sonic playground. These days I’ m more used to putting together a smaller board for a limited time and for a specific use, so it won’ t do everything you’ d want to be able to experiment with. As a result I decided to build a board that sounded better, was more flexible and more technologically advanced than my old rack rig was, and my team thought it would be great if I documented the process. The idea became to create something comprehensive, that had lasting and inherent value to all sorts of players, and that wasn’ t focused on selling stuff or being promotional at all. It’ s about providing information and inspiration to musicians of all types and abilities, in the hope that it helps trigger some creative thought, and hopefully some new music!
[ WM ] Love that. I certainly have a lot to learn by watching the different episodes.
[ Sean ] Well, there are nine of them! Whew. Being a manufacturer of not only pedals but also accessories for pedalboards like power
