Walker Doubleday is a custom guitar builder in Austin , Texas . He was a senior builder at Collings Guitars for over eight years in the acoustic division . There , he learned firsthand the insand-outs of guitar making and eventually moved to start his own boutique guitar company . His love for quality and excellence is very evident . I have a saying : “ How you do anything is how you do everything .” Therefore , the build on this Thrasher electric will be comparable to all his guitars .
OUT OF THE BOX : The Thrasher comes in a classic rectangle hard-shell Gator case . There ’ s plenty of room for storing all your goodies . The guitar weighs in at about 7 lbs . The “ Jazzmaster ” style body is made of a solid slab of lightweight Swamp Ash . This one has a beautiful classic glossy blonde nitrocellulose finish . The custom Doubleday hand-wired pickups are “ scatter wound ” with Alnico 5 magnets . They ’ re wired for increased highs and lows with scooped mids and higher output than classic versions . They are great for vintage and heavy modern tones . They are mounted on a Celluloid Tortoise pickguard . It comes standard with a Halon Bridge and Vibrato system .
The Doubleday Thrasher uses a vintage wiring schematic and rhythm circuit with 1 meg volume / tone pots and a Mallory mustard tone capacitor .
The neck is a beautifully figured hard Maple with a Madagascar Rosewood fretboard . It ’ s accented with an ivoroid celluloid nitrate binding and pearl block inlays . It ’ s got a modern “ C ” neck profile with a 12 ” radius and a 1.650 ” wide bone nut . The frets are stainless steel and are equipped with ToneLoc locking tuners . It came strung with DR Pure Blues 10-46 .
