Preparing for NAMM each year , I will always watch in advance for product release announcements , but I always go knowing that there will be plenty of things that just catch my eye . The HOTONE Tuner Press is one of those products . In fact , it made my “ 5 cool Things ” list in the February issue ! Our Worship Musician booth was in a great location at the back of the event hall , so it was easy access to everywhere and we weren ’ t swallowed up in the middle of the showroom . Almost right in front of us was the HOTONE booth with a giant product photo of the Tuner Press .
How many tuners have you gone through over the years ? There are so many options , and some are more creative than others . Twentyfive years ago , the headstock clip-on tuner was a new and cool thing . Honestly , nowadays , I really don ’ t like seeing one on the guitar while someone is leading worship or playing a show . Same thing about a capo if it is not going to be used , and you know I ’ m all about capos ! But I don ’ t keep one on my headstock if I am not going to use it . However , we all need to tune and retune .
I really favor pedal tuners and for years , even while playing acoustic guitar most of the time , I have used a volume pedal if only just to kill my
signal so I can unplug and not drain my battery during preaching . I don ’ t like making onboard volume adjustments partly because I don ’ t want to accidentally adjust my tone , but also , volume level will still affect overall tone and it ’ s not easy to be precise like I can be with a pedal . Some of the biggest problems with running tuner pedals is that they take up precious board space and precious board power . Speaking of precious space , the Tuner Press is at least ½ ” narrower and almost 4 ” shorter in length than my regular volume pedal and the function list goes far beyond just being a volume control .
This Tuner Press is lightweight aluminum and has a totally solid feel . It ’ s really four functions in one unit , thus the space saving value . First , it ’ s obviously a volume pedal . Secondly , it ’ s a tuner . Third , it can switch into expression pedal mode . And lastly , it is a buffer . Check out my video when you can to see it in action .
This is a small pedal , but it ’ s not a MINI . So , it has a nice and complete feel underfoot . The non-slip surface has serious grip . The tuner 66 April 2024 Subscribe for Free ...
