So , with a new pastor , we moved to two services in the same space and with only a 15 to 20-minute turnover between them . That means I have one drummer at 9:30 and a different drummer at 11:00 playing the same kit . This would literally be miserable if one were left-handed . Thankfully not !
To aid in making the turnover , we bought some new cymbals that are better fitted to the two services as well as the DialTune snare . The snare can be tuned in literally a matter of seconds … the dial on the right will tighten or loosen the snare top and the dial on the left will tighten or loosen the bottom head . The concept of the DialTune was really a nobrainer for our situation and I couldn ’ t be more than pleased with the simplicity and quality of the drum as well as the mechanics of it .
Not only can this snare be tuned in a matter of seconds , but the drumhead can also be completely changed in a moment ’ s time . Could you imagine if my first service drummer were to put a stick thru the head of the snare ? It would take the more time than we have available just to get the head changed and ready for the second service . With the DialTune design , I can simply loosen the top head and twist open the rim to expose and remove the entire head . The old one comes off and the new one goes on and after dialing it tight , it ’ s ready to rock . Oh , and the cable has zero memory … so , it ’ s not stretching and becoming slowly unreliable .
Turns out during the writing of this review , I had another big funeral take place . Full Band , 70-voice choir , and over 1,000 people in attendance . It was wild ! I showed the drummer the DialTune . He had already seen it on Instagram , and it felt so nice to be able to say , “ Tune it how you like it !” And , I have to say that he made it sound incredible !
I ’ ve been leading worship for our Celebrate Recovery group and my buddy , Aaron Bivin has been drumming for me there . I ’ ve had him playing on the DialTune for the past month and asked him for his opinion … “ As a drummer , having the right snare makes or breaks it . My go-to snare sound is thick , yet snappy with slight overtones . I also own a piccolo snare . I add that to the kit for those accents during guitar break downs or a lighter tone to give those vocals a good accent with a light tone . I recently played the DialTune snare . All I can say is , Wow ! With the DialTune I can achieve that vintage Ludwig sound at the turn of a knob . Or I can easily bring it back up to the piccolo sound . This snare is extremely well built for the road or your everyday kit . One more factor that is a make or break … changing heads ! The DialTune allows you to quickly unwind each knob , swap out top or bottom head and tighten each dial back without the process of taking off lugs and having to “ re-tune ” each lug . I would highly recommend this snare for the new drummers and most defiantly for the professional drummer who want hands on control of snare tone , sound and pitch that can be adjusted with the turning of two knobs !”
