so much stronger .
And so , I wanted to write a song that spoke specifically to women about their identity issues and placing their worth in what people say about them , or what the world says about them , or peer pressure , but instead placing their worth in what the Lord says about them and that He calls us a daughter of Him , and that we are treasures , and that we are valued and loved , and that we are His children , and this song really captures that part . I ' ve really been praying over this song that it will be an encouragement to women of all ages , and that they would find their worth in Jesus through listening to this song .
[ WM ] It appears that you are a Martin guitar fan . Is that your go-to instrument ? Do you tend to write on piano , guitar , or both ?
[ Anne ] I tend to write on piano a little bit more than guitar . Guitar is a new instrument for me . I ' ve been playing piano since I was six years old . So , I definitely have a little more background in piano , but I love playing my guitar as well . And , I think depending on the day and depending on writing stuff , and when I ' ve got tours , but I definitely love pouring my heart into my Martin guitar . But I love the piano as well .
[ WM ] And you ’ re touring this Spring with Zach Williams , followed by summer festivals , is this correct ? You must be so excited .
[ Anne ] Yes , I am . It ' s been so fun . We ' re in the middle of the spring tour right now . It ' s been great to get to just be on tour with Zach , and he ' s one of my favorite artists in Christian music . I remember first finding out that I was going to tour with him . I was just so excited and blown away and looking forward to it a lot . So , it ' s been really great to be on tour with him and to experience all these incredible things , and just to watch the Lord moving inside each concert has been a really big blessing .
[ WM ] How do you hope your songs will resonate with listeners ? I know that you write for worshipers , country music fans , and radio . What do you want people to know about you as a songwriter ?
[ Anne ] I want to write songs that are very vulnerable and real , and that ' s what I ' ve really worked hard at doing for this record . I want people to listen to my songs no matter where they are in life and feel the honesty behind them , and I would never put out a song I don ' t believe in . So , these worship songs are songs that I believe in . These are just very important songs to me .
I want people to listen to these songs and realize their importance and who they are as a child of God , but also that you ' re never too far gone to come back to Jesus , and you have an opportunity to know Him and to come to know Him through these songs . I want people to feel like they ' re not alone in their pain , especially people walking through grief loss and the loss of a loved one . I want people to know that there are other people like me that have walked through it , but that are on the other side of it now . They can speak life into them , and that they can lean on Jesus to get them through the hard times .
[ WM ] It ’ s been a wonderful pleasure to visit with you . God be with you in your travels and may He bless your recordings . Thank you , Anne .
[ Anne ] Oh , thank you so much . It was great to talk with you .
