got really confusing and there are a ton of funny
stories, because it was a conference, then it
was a movement, and it was campuses, people
were just so confused. I wrote a book and we
called it Jesus Culture, and we’d be on tour and
people would go, “Is this the biography of the
band?” (laughs) So that’s how it happened, the
worship just exploded and we started taking
our conferences out and bringing the worship
with us. We started doing conferences around
America and the world.
It was always music and message, it was
always word and worship. It was probably not
until ten years into what we were doing that the
worship team actually went out without me.
It was always about a bigger thing, we never
wanted to sell albums, that was never our goal,
even when music labels were interacting with
