that, and one of the things that I have learned
is that I am present in body with my family, but
often times not present in mind. The last several
months have been such a gift for me to be able
to be with my wife and my daughters and to be
able to be probably more present than I’ve ever
been with them. With all of the horror stories
of things that have happened across the world
and with the virus just made me so grateful for
so many things. Just sitting on the back porch
having dinner with my kids, or whatever it may
be, I’m just overwhelmed with gratitude for this
strange season to slow down and to breathe in
life and to realize how easy it is to take life for
granted. So, it’s been challenging for me on a
personal level where God wants to work, but
then it’s been beautiful on a personal level also
to just enjoy life.
[WM] Thank you Scott. One thing’s for sure.
This pandemic has not caught the Lord by
surprise! I must admit to listening to the EP
last year and being extremely impressed and
also wondering what was next. You have not
disappointed! Live at The Wheelhouse was the
hors d’oeuvre to the full entrée. Holy Water, your
brand-new, full-length release, is magnificent.
It represents the full Christian experience of
faith and humanity. It’s the kind of rare art that
employs more instruments, more sounds, a
larger vision, deeper lyrics, brilliant vocals, and
a studio that is used as an instrument as well.
In short, you’re working with a bigger palette of
sonics. Tell us about the overall project.
[Ed] Wow, that’s really kind, every word you
just said is such a gift and a blessing to our
hearts.
[Andrew] It’s actually been an incredible
journey with these guys, I tell people that there
are a lot of cooks in the kitchen but that it feels
like very talented and wise cooks. I think too
many cooks that don’t have humble hearts is
chaotic, but if you’ve got people with humble
hearts then it’s just a privilege and an honor to
work with them.
It’s definitely been stressful in moments.
Everybody is giving input and you’re all fighting
for the song, but it’s in a really sweet way. Its
been fun for me, there are times in the studio
where I’m here working on my computer,
Martin is in another chair working on his stuff,
and the others are doing guitars, and Franni is
doing vocals, and so we’re all kind of putting
input into different places. It’s been fun for me,
a real blessing and privilege, and an experience
unlike I’ve ever had before. There’s just so
much creativity.
