World of Warcraft Community Magazine Issue 12 | Page 16

ARTICLE 16 // World of Warcraft Community Magazine I want to wish the WoW Community Magazine a happy first birthday! Funnily enough, this issue corresponds roughly to my birth-day with the mag, as I started reading it around its third installment. Having recently graduated from college, I’m very grateful to the magazine for giving me the opportunity to continue writing and practicing this skill that I love so much. I’ve been playing World of Warcraft since middle school, and it has consistently been a place where I can be myself, where I can relax, a world I’m familiar with and enjoy spending time with. The opportunity to work with a group of other people who feel the same way is rare, and I am thankful for every moment. I’ve also enjoyed seeing the magazine grow and change--over the course of the nine months it’s been part of my life, I’ve learned a lot about how publications like this operate, and how they themselves are almost organisms, living and breathing and growing on their own. I hope to contribute much more in the future, and I can’t wait to see where the coming fall takes us as a staff! If I listed all the various racial battle cries I’ve learned over the past nine years, we’d never leave, so I’ll end with a simple Lok’tar ogar! Ian Kernohan, a.k.a, Qaundr, the Warlock, the Rogue.
