Recognizing the role of proper nutrition, Nestlé launched the
global program Nestlė for Healthier Kids in 2018, whose main
goal is to nurture a nutritional culture among the younger
generation. By 2030, the project should help more than 50
million children from different countries to lead them to a
healthy lifestyle. In Kazakhstan the program was implemented
by means of educational system of the School of Healthy
Nutrition since 2014. Experienced teachers, nutritionists, and
experts of the Kazakh Academy of Nutrition and the Ministry
of Education and Science of Kazakhstan participated in the
creation of the complex; the ministry approved this program
and recommended a teaching aid be developed in conjunction
with the project. Implemented in Kazakhstan since 2014, the
program covers 60 schools with Kazakh and Russian language
training in Almaty and Nur-Sultan annually (about 6,400 children
and 360 teachers). Since 2014 the program has covered 220
schools and 23,200 children (data at the end of the 2018-2019
school year.)
The program is held in the elective course format (class hours)
throughout the academic year. While each child receives a free
interactive workbook with a storyline featuring Aldar-Kose, a
favorite character of Kazakh fairy tales, in the role of assistant
teacher that explains ‘tasty and useful’ material, which is a
teaching aid provided for teachers. . The program covers the

a workshop for teachers, as well as the festival-competition
‘Connoisseurs of the school of healthy nutrition’.
It should be noted that the international cooperation with
scientists and educators from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan is
developing within the scope of the School of Healthy Nutrition
program. Annually the three most outstanding teachers
participate in a three-day Nestle' for Healthier Kids International
Conference in Moscow, where they receive vocational training,
advanced training, share their experience in implementing the
program, participate in an international exhibition of works and
also participate in the cultural program (city tour, museums,
sightseeing tours, etc.).
