Manigault’s career-high 14 rebounds earned him the Lai-Lynch MVP award, while the Blackbirds’ bench chipped in with a season-high 41 points in a hard-fought win. Long Island (16-13, 12-6) built a 12-6 lead following three foul shots from junior Jaytornah Wisseh and a three-point play from Manigault at the 13:44 mark. St. Francis (N.Y.) closed within 14-13 on a Richard Clark three-pointer before the Blackbirds rattled off a 13-1 run to build a cushion. Sophomore David Hicks sparked the spurt with a layup and a three-pointer by freshman Michael Culpo gave LIU a 27-14. Culpo added a trifecta just before the halftime whistle to make it 33-21 at the break. St. Francis (N.Y.) opened the second half with a 10-3 spurt, powered by ?ve points from Ricky Cadell. A Cadell foul shot helped cut the de?cit to 54-48 with 3:27 to play, but freshman Lucas Faggiano answered with a three-pointer to put the game away.
