Just think about this… if there was a ban of alcohol on campuses, there would most certainly be a decrease in the dropout rates and academic issues amongst college students so why not just have this happen? A banning would most certainly be great.

A second ongoing situation that continues to happen across college campuses is the increase of alcohol related deaths and binge drinking problems that occur within college students also. This has been an ongoing situation for the past couple years but has increased to higher number recently to this year. According to statistics, “over 1,500 students die from alcohol related injuries.” (Stoddart) Now that number should be alarming to anyone who may be reading this. If alcohol was not allowed on campuses and banned, wouldn’t this number be extremely lower? I think so, the banning of alcohol could go a long way but it would be complicated in keeping a dry campus but can most certainly be done. Look at this, “approximately two out of every 5 college students have reported binge drinking at least once in the two weeks prior.” (NIAAA) That is also troublesome, most college students will binge drink because of peer pressure to “fit in”. Which is not best idea in the long run, it will not make you fit in, in fact, it will increase your chances of dying, and as result, you may become a part of the 1,500 college students who dies each year due to alcohol related injuries.

If the banning were to take place, I guarantee that there would be a huge reduction of the amount of college students who die each year from alcohol related injuries. There wouldn’t be the source for them to even put them at risk of this ongoing problem if it was banned.

A final ongoing situation that happens often within college campuses is the amount of rape cases that occur and are also reported that take place at college parties or within their dorm rooms. This has been a big problem going on throughout the years in which one may have had sexual intercourse, without consent between both partners. This can happen to both men and women but mostly happens to the female gender. Most cases, the victim comes out and shares their case but sometimes it may be hard for some people which results in cases not being shared. This problem continues to climb throughout the years. A case that recently had happen was out of Stanford University in California. Where a college student had had sex with a female who did not give consent because both were under the influence. Both had sexual contact with each other no matter what regarding the fact. A few years later, she reported it and that man who was accused life was changed forever. It was as simple as that. That just shows how dangerous alcohol can be to many, doesn’t put you in the right stage of mind and you commit stupid acts such as this.
