Course Outline
Pupils will have the opportunity to participate in the following activities. They must gain a performance
grade in all activities and the best activity will be assessed for the overall course award. They will also be
assessed on the written element of the course.
GAMES – Basketball, Badminton, Hockey.
Rationale
Purpose and Aims
To develop and consolidate skills and techniques from a variety of activities. Pupils will learn the principles
which underpin these activities, such as the best methods to learn skills, how to use tactics effectively and
basic physiological principles. They will also undertake a unit to develop fitness and learn fitness concepts.
Information regarding typical learners who might take the course
Pupils who choose a course in Physical Education must show their commitment by undertaking more
specialised work. They will undertake a variety of activities, and their best activity will be the final
performance mark.
Assessment
Access 3 and National 4 are internally assessed in performance and theory.
