Purpose and Aims
Access 3
This course allows learners to develop practical skills by creating and presenting Drama. They will also
develop production skills by presenting drama.
This course encourages learners to be creative and to express themselves in different ways. Learning
through drama helps learners to appreciate cultural values, identities and ideas. This course provides scope
for personalisation and choice.
National 4 & 5
Through Drama, learners will be given rich opportunities to be creative and to experience inspiration and
enjoyment.
Drama skills - Learners discuss ideas and respond to stimuli in groups or in pairs. They will develop roles and
characters in a drama of their own. They will then reflect on this performance in written form.
Theatre production - Learners will create and present a short production using the skills gained in the
exploration and investigation of a range of Theatre Arts.
Value added units - This allows the learner to become secure in their skills of performance and technical
theatre as they have to create and perform a devised presentation.
