Women's Hockey Game Notes Vol. VIII | 页面 6

MARIAN HOCKEY SEASON PREVIEW Following the holiday break, the Sabres will play 11 straight NCHA games, beginning with St. Scholastica on Jan. 10. Now will be the crucial time for the squad to step-up and take charge. “We have 13 conference ahead of us, so the majority of points are still on the table,” Kivi said. “Every game is going to be important for us if we want to get into the playoffs.” If Marian wants to secure their spot in the Slaats Cup Playoffs, they’ll need to corral points down the stretch. They have shown over the first two months of the season that they can play with the best of the best, so don’t be surprised if they make a run and solidify their spot for the postseason. Junior forward Lauren Zachwieja “Overall, we need to focus on playing a complete game rather than showing up for one or two periods,” Kivi said. “Strategically, we need to tighten up our defensive zone and find a better transition on the breakouts. Offensively, we need to clean up our passing so that we aren’t just throwing the puck around. This will lead to better scoring chances for us to finish.” The Sabres will open up the 2014 portion of their schedule Friday, Jan. 10 when they host St. Scholastica at the Blue Line.
