Age is Just a Number even when everything in my life was falling apart. I held on with all my might. By Karen Kelly It has been a tough few months, caring for my mother, (who sadly passed away) and juggling college work, assignments, assessments and a Graded Unit, others may have crumbled under the strain, not me. I never lost sight of that goal, even in my darkest moment I never gave up, having a goal has kept me sane, kept me going, kept me striving for that ultimate reward of having my dreams realised, and I will have them realised because without them I have nothing. Age is just a number, you are never too old to learn and there are tons of courses out there. This course for me is a means to an end. Education is a means to an end. If you have knowledge, you have power. Last June I made the decision to throw caution to the wind and return to college to study Media and communication. Armed with my portfolio off I went for my interview; an interview that was to change my life for the better. On that, first morning however, as I stepped through the classroom door it became clear I was the oldest there, I never felt intimidated or out of place, I was there as an equal, as someone with ambition, with drive, the course a means to the realisation of a dream.
