Adrenaline Rush
The sun rose and it was a beautiful day.
Traffic in Philadelphia was heavier than on a usual Thursday. I decided to go study at a cafe and I was just about to sort through my papers wh- BAM!
...
There was a moment of stillness before people started walking and cars found a way around the new obstruction. The owners got out of their cars and argued while smoke started to rise from the hood of the red car which had taken most of the beating. People were curious and got closer until flames started erupting from under the hood. The owner of the car was pulled away as he shouted “My dog and 4 year old are in there!”
Adrenaline surged through me and took over. I remember being a bystander a second ago and then instantly skidding to a stop at the door of the red car. Immediately I swung open the door and somehow managed to dislocate the door from the car, but that didn’t matter. I grabbed the child and sought that the dog followed after me when I ran back to the father of the 4 year old. I felt a tug on my sweater and turned to find a crowd of staring faces and a little boy saying something about being a superhero. It was a blur and completely impossible! But I’d find out it wasn’t quite impossible after all…
That afternoon, I was able to think faster, clearer, and get hundreds more ideas in my classes than ever. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Maybe I just had a good 4 hour sleep. But later that day, I decided to go for a running hike. I recalled my impossible speed and went from a jog to… I don’t know what’s faster than a sprint! I don’t know what to call it speed! I then tried lifting boulders… Boulders! And as it turns out, I was able to easily lift them above my head.
Though I was very complacent with what I had done, I couldn’t possibly be a “superhero”! It’s a complete folly! Absolutely ridiculous! I only want to get through college! And yet, I stopped doing my homework and stared at it blankly for what seemed like forever thinking “But what if…?”. And then a sudden whim came over me. Almost as sudden as my Adrenaline Rush this morning.
...
It took me the whole night to make. It took many pages of uncompleted homework and many pricked fingers.
Now I’m standing in front of my mirror holding up a purple schemed suit and envisioning myself fighting crime in it.
The sun rose for a tomorrow and it would be a beautiful day.
