Thoughts on my intervention idea…
After listening to my list of intervention ideas, Kathryn agreed that the viral challenge and the option to donate to girl scouts would be a good way to go about bringing awareness to this problem. She didn’t mention any new ideas, but did mention that it was a good idea to portray men doing something they usually aren’t seen doing just as women aren’t 100% yet seen as leaders. Kathyrn also mentioned that women do a lot cosmetically for their job and that it does have an effect if you do apply makeup or not. She said, “assistants are seen as the pretty woman with makeup and wearing heels while getting everyone coffee. Now-a-days, it’s not traditional for men to do things much as makeup to themselves, but the reality is that they were the first to do it. Men would be put in dresses when they were young, they wore heels before women did, and they used makeup before women did as well. So, with the logic that my challenge brings about men doing something unusual, just as a woman leader is seen as “unusual”, yet men have been doing cosmetics before women. Women should be given equal opportunities to be a leader as well.”
