Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things
My heart is full ! I ’ ve seen so many miracles leading up to our largest , 4th annual Leap of Faith fundraiser , June 23 , 2017 . I ’ ve seen ordinary people rise up doing extraordinary things to help the Edmonton Dream Centre in their vision and mission helping vulnerable women ( and their children ) rise up for a better life .
39 brave Sky divers answered the 14,000-foot jump challenge and raised over $ 110,000 , exceeding our goal ! Every dollar is so meaningful , paving the road to a better life for vulnerable women and children who need a helping hand-up and a chance at a better life . From the very first Leap of Faith in 2014 with 1 jumper , to 39 jumpers in 2017 , this fundraising event , only 4 years in the making , is like a spark that has ignited a big flame in the hearts of all who support the work of the Edmonton Dream Centre . Thank you to our jumpers , sponsors , donors and volunteers who made it happen , with a lot of heart and soul , love and support !
As Director of Public Relations & Resources , I ’ ve been touched personally by so many stories that warm my heart . Here is what some of our jumpers had to say : “ I ’ m jumping because I have survived addiction and domestic violence .” “ I ’ m jumping because I was sexually abused as a child .” “ I ’ m jumping because we lost a loved one to the mental illness of addictions .” “ I ’ m jumping because everyone deserves a second chance .” “ I ’ m jumping because the Edmonton Dream Centre is making a difference in my community .” “ I ’ m jumping because I care – women helping women .”
The Leap of Faith phenomena is here to stay ! This annual sky diving fundraising event is a game-changer . It ’ s become ‘ the reason why ’ for many to identify with .
