Furch guitars, designed and crafted in the Czech Republic, were already popular in Europe and are gaining traction in the US now as well. I played their new Pioneer series of travel guitars at the NAMM show earlier this year and recently WM received one for review. The model we tested out is the Pioneer- MM a with optional LR Baggs electronics added. Furch also offers a Pioneer-EM a model with Engelmann spruce top and African mahogany back and sides and Pioneer-ER, a with an Engelmann spruce paired with Indian Rosewood and CM with Western Red Cedar and African mahogany.
For our purposes I gravitated toward the all-mahogany construction as a way to warm up the tone where many travel guitars can be heavy in treble and lacking in
