[ WM ] Tell us about how you got started playing guitar ?
[ Chris Lockwood ] Well , for one it was just in the blood . Going to watch my Mother and Uncle rehearse , during their club days , is really what did it for me . Watching a live band rehearse , the volume , the energy , and , ultimately , the sound of the guitar made it nonnegotiable that music was gonna be a major part of my life .
[ WM ] Who were your main guitar influences ?
[ Chris ] I began playing in the mid to late 80 ’ s which , of course , means hair bands . So Eric Johnson , Satriani , Vai , and EVH were my early heroes . However , after bombing a guitar solo during a college event , I came off stage absolutely livid and promised myself that it would never happen again . So , I immersed myself in jazz , and my heroes became Miles Davis , Coltrane , Pat Metheny , Wes Montgomery , and John Scofield .
Years later , I started a CCM group called ‘ 33Miles ’, which had a pop country vibe to it , so Nashville players became my heroes , from
