Furch guitars have been grabbing a lot of attention with musicians on a global scale, especially with their popular Little Jane travel acoustic guitars. The new Spectra Plus OMc – ER that Worship Musician received for review is finished in Ricasoli Yellow. Spectra Plus ER models are available in Grand Auditorium or Orchestra boy shape( with cutaway) as tested. Personally, I have always been drawn to more flamboyant paint finishes and the Spectra Plus in yellow delivers that( and Furch offers other vibrant colors as well). This guitar features the patented CNR system for easy neck adjustments with a dual action truss rod secured in rigid carbon and solid wood expansion piece. There are 14 frets to the body with an Engelman Spruce A grade top and Indian rosewood back and sides. The Spectra neck is made from African mahogany and the fretboard is ebony. The nut width on the Furch Spectra Plus is 1
¾” with a TUSQ nut and saddle. Furch closed back chrome machine tuners are installed on the headstock with the inlayed logo at top. Artificial ivory binding with white dot fret marks and side dots. The top of the Spectra is a full-pore high-gloss finish while the rest of the guitar and the neck are open pore which is more of a satin look and feel. The pickguard is a transparent anti-scratch type which isn’ t even visible unless you hold the guitar close up. Thanks to the Furch soft V neck and 15 ¾” fretboard radius the Spectra when played really lends itself to fingerpicking and thumb picking especially with the string spacing. The Furch Spectra Plus OMc-ER is has a very warm tonality to it that is soothing to play and fits in the pocket nicely with other guitars that push the mid-frequencies. The guitar as tested did not come with electronics installed but these are optional through Furch, it does include a well-padded gig bag and the starting price for the Spectra Plus OMc- ER is $ 2,173.
