New Pedals, Wireless Monitor & Guitar from Donner Music First up we are reviewing the Donner Music new X MIYAVI Double Swords signature models Pedals created in collaboration with the popular Japanese( Samurai Guitarist) and artist.
If you watch the videos MIYAVI was heavily involved with the Donner team to create these cost effective and featured laden multi-effect pedals. The Dimension Weaver features Verb, Delay and Chorus with three control knobs for each effect and a stomp switch to engage each or all. The Rage Breaker pedal has Booster, Fuzz and Overdrive effects. Boost and OD have three controls but there are four for the fuzz to add sustain. Both of the Double Sword pedals are only 7.5” long a little over 2” wide and 1” think so they will easily fit in a gig bag or backpack. Plugged in both pedals had noise free effects I preferred the Fuzz on the Rage Breaker and the Chorus effect on the Dream Weaver. Each of the Double Sword multieffects are priced at only $ 129.99 per pedal.
The new CV-3 Wireless In-Ear Monitoring system is compact and convenient. The transmitter, which plugs into your PA system or source, and the receiver pack which transmits the audio to earbuds are both rechargeable. The package includes a multi-channel transmitter, multi-channel receiver, charging cable, and two
converter cables one from ¼” to mini and the ¼” to XLR. I tested these out with standard earbuds and the CV-3 paired quickly and had no interference in sound. Priced at only $ 179.99 the CV-3 Wireless In-Ear monitoring system comes in a well-padded case and is a great value for church use. Donner Music continues to deliver great playing and sounding music gear at a price that works. Like the new HLX- 500 Headless Electric Guitar packing 24-frets, single, single, humbucker pickup configuration, asymmetrical fast neck and an ergonomic contoured body. Five position pickup selector and easy truss rod adjustments at the bottom of the neck. This is a hardtail electric guitar, so the tuning is at the bottom of the body with the fine tuners. HLX-500 guitar has 25.5” scale, satin finish on body and neck and 12” radius fretboard. Nut width at the top of the neck is 1.650” the body is made of poplar wood, rosewood fretboard and roasted maple neck. The input ¼” jack in the back of the HLX-500 is angled so the guitar cable won’ t pull out easy either. Plugged into an amp with effects I preferred the humbucker pickup in the bridge and neck pickup. Single tone and volume make adjustments simple. The Donner HLX-500 headless electric guitar is only $ 354.99 and it out plays headless guitars priced three times as much. Package includes a gig bag, picks, strap, truss rod tool and convenient gig bag. The HLX-500 as tested was the natural wood model which I prefer, White finish is also a choice. Warm Audio Retro 64 Microphone
WM had a hard time getting the new Warm Audio microphones in house to review because they keep selling out. When I discovered them, I thought they were popular just because of their cool Retro 60’ s style, but Warm Audio proved me incorrect. For testing we received the Warm Audio RETRO 64 in matte black and chrome.( I think they should consider white and gold also.) The RETRO 64 has a custom-tuned dynamic capsule with a cardioid mic pattern and XLR connector and internal shock-mount. Frequency response is 50Hz-18Khz and it can handle a maximum SPL of 135dB. Warm Audio designed these mics for vocals, but they also work great for mic’ ing drums and guitar cabs. Plugged into a PA the RETRO 64 mics sound warm and smooth with no brittle high end. They are very comfortable to sing with, and the construction of the metal mic casing reflects quality craftsmanship. Even the Warm Audio zipper carrying case includes a mic stand holder, there is a pad between the mic and the top netting, and a polishing cloth to keep your mic pristine. At only $ 149 for a microphone package, I can see why they are in demand and work for studio or live applications.
