The Golden Jubilee pedal by Wampler melds American and British amp sounds into one pedal that you can lose yourself in. The left side of the pedal, Distortion( DS), is designed after the boutique California style tube amps. While the right side of the pedal, Overdrive( OD), brings the heavy British amp sound that we all grew up with. The top controls of Level, Tone, and Gain are for OD and the three controls under that are for DS mode. Each side of the pedal also has a character mini toggle providing a choice of gains for OD and a brightness for DS. The middle toggle switch lets you choose in what order you want to stack OD and DS effects yielding very different sounds. I didn’ t believe any pedal could impress me more than the Tumnus but the Golden Jubilee did. Plugged in I was easily able to get my tube type American distortion from the left side and big brash British tone from the right. At the last-minute Shure sent over the new MVX2U Digital Audio Interface Gen 2. I was excited but also skeptical. The MVX2U plugs directly into any standard XLR microphone and includes a USB-C to USB-C cable that will connect to your smartphone, tablet or computer. I grabbed my favorite 1991 Shure SH55 Series II vocal mic and plugged it into my iPhone. And I was totally blown away by the warmth and depth it delivered. Hands down the best XLR to digital interface I have ever tested and I would buy one. The Shure MVX2U is priced at $ 139. Besides the USB-C output at the base there is also a 3.5mm headphone output with zero latency. It’ s compatible with Windows and Mac and it allows you to plug any standard XLR microphone into your digital device for recording higher quality music and voice applications.
