[WM] Worship Leader Buyer's Guide #11 | Page 8

would be excited to have?
[ Brooke ] I am fantasizing about getting a Mellotron M4000D one day. I was working in a studio last year that had one and I fell in love!
[ WM ] What is a current Worship record you enjoy listening to right now?
[ Brooke ] Really loving the Sons of Sunday stuff – that’ s been ministering to me deeply whilst being so satisfying musically. The new Matt Crocker music that is coming out is brilliant and Joel Figueroa is working on some stuff I can’ t wait to hear more of. I love Victory Boyd – so scripturally rich. And in moments where I just need to breathe, my dear friend Kari Jobe is a go to.
[ WM ] What are the biggest challenges you have faced as a woman in ministry and how have you grown through it?
[ Brooke ] Having not grown up in church, there is so much about sub-cultures and denominational nuances that has been new information for me over the years. It’ s humbling to listen to the experiences of others that have been different to my own. I do not take it for granted that my personal context has been in environments where women contribute, serve and lead across church life. Within the team I was honored to be a part of for a long season, brothers and sisters and lawyers and single parents and teachers and graphic designers served together like Galatians 3:28 describes, celebrating that each of us bringing our part to the table meant for an infinitely more wonderful feast.
[ WM ] Do you have words of encouragement to fellow worship leaders, worship bands and audio teams who serve week in and week out at their local church?
[ Brooke ] I would invite us all to ask the Lord to help us to never lose sight of the miracle that is the gathering of the saints. That God would bring together ruffians like us, reconcile and save us through the sacrifice of His own Son, and then send His Spirit to send and minister to and through us is a wild, wild miracle – one that doesn’ t originate with us nor one we deserve, but one we are given to respond to and steward with both fear and joy.
The ordinariness and imperfection of Sundays sometimes very easily disguises the miracle of being part of the most glorious, cosmic, outrageous Story of all. One of the best ways to remember is to get up close and participate in the Gospel at work in individuals. I always remind myself that it’ s easier to love hypothetical people, but I’ m not asked to love hypothetical people- but the actual people around me.
