NEXADYNE Instrument microphones by Shure
As the 100-year Anniversary celebration of Shure continues they are expanding their popular NEXADYNE series of microphones with three new instrument mics. At the heart of the NEXADYNE mics is the Shure Revoinic dual-engine transducer technology which helps control ambient bleed in sounds. First is the NEXADYNE 2 Kick Drum Microphone($ 249) featuring a super cardioid dynamic microphone for professional live and recording applications. The NXN2 is a substantial microphone designed to take the punishment of a kick drum placement, but still delivers the organic sound return that you are seeking. It has a dynamic cartridge design, finished in black so it is easily concealed, and it has an adjustable angle screw on the threaded mic attachment.
The NEXADYNE 5 Guitar Amp Microphone($ 219) is my favorite of the new models. The unique shape of the NXN 5 by Shure makes amplifier
mic placement simple whether you are using a floor stand or draping it over the amp with a cable. The NXN 5 has a super cardioid mic pattern with 50Hz-16kHz frequency response and off-axis sound rejection. Die-cast aluminum shell and dent resistant metal grill make the NXN 5 the ideal guitar amplifier mic for recording or live situations and it delivers the pure guitar sound without ambient intrusion.
The NEXADYNE 6 Tom / Snare Microphone($ 249 each) also offered in a three pack of mics for $ 649. Next to guitar amp micing, tom and snare drum micing can be a sound person’ s nightmare. Like other NEXADYNE mics the NXN 6 has a super cardioid polar mic pattern with off-axis rejection and reproduction at 50Hz- 16kHz frequency. A great design of the NXN 6 is that the die-cast aluminum shell is angled to assist with better placement for snare and tom drums and it includes the Shure A6D drum mount. Similar to NXN 2 and 5, NXN 6 does an incredible job of drum reproduction without ambient drum and cymbals interfering with the sound. I’ m certain Shure will be expanding the NEXADYNE series to other instrument micing, but the NXN 2,5 and 6 models are definite game changers! www. shure. com
HeadRush New Products
We are reviewing two products from the HeadRush company for this Worship Leader BUYERS GUIDE, the first being FLEX Prime Guitar Multi-Effects / Amp Modeler. What is most appealing about this model is the size 2.75” high, 11.6” width and 5.9” depth with a weight of only 3.46 lbs. A 4” full-color LED touchscreen( that is also backlit) gives you full access to the FLEX Prime 97-amp models, 82 cabs, 109 effects, 315 IRs and 35 amp / pedal clones. It also has an onboard expression pedal, loop( 5-minute loop time), built-in Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, Cloud enabled and USB connection. Threefoot stomp buttons provide access to the Rig banks, looper and tuner with two top mount control knobs. You can also load tracks into the FLEX Prime to jam along with. The amps, effects and Super Clones in the HeadRush FLEX Prime sound incredible and I really like the size of this device for travel and playing with a Praise Team or Youth Group. You can also stream the tracks from the songs you’ ll be playing on Sunday through the pedal. The mind blower for me is the included ReValver Amp Cloner software that allows you to Clone your favorite amps or pedals like my Dad’ s 59’ Fender Bassman. The connectivity on the FLEX Prime features stereo or mono output, FX send and return, MIDI in and out, Auxiliary and headphone output. Not only is this pedal great for playing live but it also delivers studio quality sounds for recording or home practice and priced at $ 499.
