Do you record? Do you rehearse? What’ s your choice of hardware and your signal flow? Last year, I recorded and released my first real project. If you’ re interested, give it a listen here. I had a basic interface at my desk and recorded a few guitar tracks, a mandolin track, a bass track, and then a few vocal tracks. I recorded each track one at a time just because I did it all myself.
It would have been fun to get my son and sonin-law to track some, but for my first work, I kept it simple. Next time, I am considering adding another musician. I would much rather record together rather than one track at a time. There’ s just a bit more sparkle when playing as a group. So, I’ ve got a few inputs on my old interface. We could set up and jam, but when it comes to the multi-track, there will be vocal bleed in the guitars and guitar bleed all over the vocal, so then mistakes become complete retakes. In my current setup, multitrack is almost pointless.
