[ Jimmy ] I ’ m not sure . It ’ s wireless ... that ’ s all I know .

[ WM ] If you play an acoustic guitar , what pickup system is on your guitar ?

[ Jimmy ] I also play a Taylor 414ce acoustic guitar with what I believe is the ES1 system . This has been a real workhorse for me over the past 10 years . I recently had it professionally set up by a licensed Taylor technician and it sounds and plays better than ever .

[ WM ] What brand capo do you use ?

[ Jimmy ] I ’ ve been using the regular Kyser capo as well as the reverse capo from time to time .

[ WM ] What guitar strings do you prefer ?

[ Jimmy ] I usually go for Ernie Ball Power Slinky on my electric guitars and I recently switched to Martin LifeSpan Strings on the Taylor .

[ WM ] For In-Ear Monitors what brand are you using ?

[ Jimmy ] I ’ ve never had a set of ‘ expensive in-ears before . My favorite budget in-ears right now are the KZ ZAR ’ s , the XVive , and the most bang for buck pair I ’ ve ever tried is the new KZ DQS ’ s .

[ WM ] What is the next piece of gear you would be excited to have ?

[ Jimmy ] I recently purchased the Kernom Ridge Overdrive for my next pedalboard build . I ’ ve played around with it some , but can ’ t wait to dive in , get it dialed in , and set up a bunch of different sounds via MIDI .

[ WM ] What are two of your current Worship records you are enjoying right now ?

[ Jimmy ] We recently introduced “ Firm Foundation ( He Won ’ t )” by Cody Carnes and I absolutely love that song . I ’ ve also heard a couple stories from people within our congregation who have been blessed by its message that even when everything around me is shaky and unstable , Christ is our solid rock ! At the end of the song I ’ ll often go into an acapella chorus of the hymn The Solid Rock . It ’ s been a great song to sing and learn to play . Another song we will introduce to our church soon is “ Beautiful Jesus ” by Passion and Chidima . I love songs that get our focus off of ourselves and back on the One who alone is worthy of our praise !

[ WM ] What word of advice do you have for our readers in the worship community ?

[ Jimmy ] I want to emphasize to worship leaders and those serving on the worship team that these roles hold a unique significance within our churches and require special attention . Given the prominent platform of worship ministry , it tends to attract individuals who may not be drawn to other forms of service . It is crucial that our worship stages are occupied by individuals who are not only skilled but also true worshipers , capable of leading the congregation in singing . Make sure your heart and motives are in the right place . If you need a litmus test to evaluate your heart in serving the church , go serve a season volunteering in children ’ s ministry !

[ Jimmy ] I recently recorded a YouTube studio tour video and in it I share some personal stories as well as show all my interesting gear ! This space is where I spend most of my time , so it will give viewers a little behind the scenes of Hey Worship Leader .
