[ WM ] Tell us how this journey all began for you . How did the course of your life lead you to where you are now ?

[ Jimmy Cooper ] Like many other worship leaders , I ended up in ministry based more on my skill than my heart or formal training . But by God ’ s grace , I ’ ve gained a deep understanding of what worship truly means and the genuine commitment that worship leaders should embody . After years of learning and personal growth , I ’ ve started Hey Worship Leader , a helpful resource for fellow worship leaders seeking guidance and inspiration .

[ WM ] When did you see a need for what you are offering right now ? Tell us about the resource ( s ) you provide others in the worship community ?

[ Jimmy ] I have been leading worship for over 20 years in various church settings , ranging from small church plants to well-established congregations . Throughout my journey , I ’ ve encountered numerous worship leaders who lacked proper training , felt ill-equipped for their roles , and experienced isolation .

My aim is to offer resources that equip and inspire other worship leaders while building a supportive community they can be a part of on Facebook , Instagram , and especially YouTube . I offer ready-made presets for all of the Line 6

[ WM ] Let ’ s talk gear . What is your primary instrument for the stage and songwriting ?

[ Jimmy ] I predominantly lead worship on the electric guitar , and I have two primary guitars : 1 . A stunning arctic white MIM Fender Telecaster equipped with jumbo frets and upgraded pickups . What makes it even more special is the fact that I hand made the walnut pickguard !

2 . My most recent and favorite purchase is the Reverend Gil Parris Natural guitar . This thing is beautiful , but I purchased it to have more pickup options , especially as I create more presets for the Line 6 devices . With the 5-position pickup selector and the distinctive bass contour knob , I can dial in virtually any desired tone , allowing me to explore and create an array of captivating sounds .

I have a mini-MIDI pedalboard featuring the HX Stomp . It ’ s perfect as a direct solution since I rarely play in venues that accommodate traditional amplifiers . This compact pedalboard also features the JET MCX that acts as the MIDI brain controlling not only the HX Stomp but the JET Revelation V2 Reverb and the Jackson Audio Broken Arrow V2 as well . I ’ ll be building a larger pedalboard based around the HX Stomp XL very soon . But you ’ ll have to subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay up to date on that project .
