[ WM ] If you play an acoustic guitar , what pickup system is on your guitar ?

[ Spencer ] I use the stock Taylor ES pickup .

[ WM ] What brand capo do you use ?

[ Spencer ] Kyser Quick Change Capo . Fun Fact : I usually put it on my fretboard backwards ( the grip facing away from me ) and leave the low E string open . That way I can play D shapes that sound huge .

[ WM ] What guitar strings do you prefer ?

[ Spencer ] I ’ m currently using D ’ Addario EJ16 ’ s .

[ Spencer ] I ’ m not much of a gear guy but I ’ ve always had a PRS McCarty Goldtop on my dream guitar list .

[ WM ] What are two of your current Worship records you are enjoying right now ?

[ Spencer ] My church recently combined our traditional and contemporary services . In the process , I realized I knew a ton of contemporary songs but not many hymns . So I ’ ve been listening to the Reawaken Hymns The Trinity Project - Hymns of the Father , Hymns of The Son , Hymns of the Spirit .

[ WM ] What word of advice do you have for our readers in the worship community ?

[ Spencer ] Simple : read the Bible every day before you do anything else . what we do , and why we do it . It ’ ll teach you how to shepherd your people . It ’ ll teach you how to lead corporate worship . It ’ ll teach you what to say between worship songs . Read . Your . Bible .

[ WM ] If we could watch one video of yours or one podcast , which one would you select ?

[ Spencer ] The video I ’ m most proud of currently is - “ A better way to start your worship service . ( The Dialogue of Worship ).” In it , I teach a framework you can use every Sunday to always know what to say at the beginning of your service .
