wonderful visit there and truly felt like RainSong cared about the musicians playing their guitars .
Since then , I have taken RainSong guitars to the extremes myself , from 110 degree weather at the Gorge Amphitheater in Eastern Washington to minus 10 degrees in Edmonton , Canada . This instruments truly are impervious to climate changes . Plus being so stable compared to wood guitars – they stay in tuned much better as well .
There are no wood parts on this WS1000N2 model guitar . If it wasn ’ t for the LR Baggs Stagepro Element pick-up system ( and we sure like LR Baggs pick-ups !) you could literally take this guitar in the shower with you and you wouldn ’ t harm it . I have often thought what my guitar playing would sound like in the shower . It can ’ t be worse than my singing . Ha !
So now , fast forward to today ’ s Concert Series WS1000N2 model guitar . I am thrilled to have one in my hands . The first thing you notice is how light weight this instrument is . Then you strum it . The best word to describe it here is “ clarity ”. A well-rounded balance of tone from bass , to mid-range to highs which comes from their unidirectional soundboard concept . The N2 neck on this model is good feeling , plus excellent fretwork and yes , the beautiful abalone inlays ( sharks included ) are all present . The body shape of the WS1000N2 is very comfortable to hold while playing and the rounded Ventian cutaway gives you easy access to your octave chords and the ability to riff around nicely in the higher register .
This is like a flashback from over two decades ago . Wow – what an inspiring instrument . From the worship platform , to a cold outdoor Sunday morning Easter service , to a Men ’ s Retreat in the humidity of summer – this guitar will serve you well and it will always sound as good as the day you bought it !
Since I visited RainSong in Maui all those years ago they have moved to the mainland in Woodinville , WA , just an hour away from me now . Side-note : They have also brought back their jumbo WS Concert 12-string acoustic – if you are a 12-string player be sure and take a look at that too . Our friend Tim Moon has been playing a RainSong 12-string guitar outside doing street ministry for 15 years in Berkeley , CA . He loves his RainSong .
The Concert Series WS1000N2 retail is $ 2,999 and comes with a nice hardshell case . It can be purchased directly from
RainSong ’ s website .
